— a Sydney-based doodle and pop artist, and the founder of my Creative brand, Colourrish.
Hi, I’m Risheet Mazumdar
“Spreading Joy through Colour”
What began as a passion and love for creativity and art, has grown into something much bigger: A community dedicated to bringing people together, emphasising the importance of creativity and spreading happiness through colour.
My artwork focuses on illustrative and free-flowing creativity, embracing vibrant and bold colours and conveying a range of emotions through expressive doodle and pop art.
At 11, during COVID-19, I found myself deeply immersed in creativity to overcome boredom. I started to develop my own artistic voice, through experimenting with mediums, emotions, and colours. Soon after, I had the opportunity to be featured in local magazines, win youth art-competitions, exhibit my work in galleries, do commission-based work and collaborate with other artists on projects like murals.
Eventually, I launched the commercial side of Colourrish, which involved sampling various products, and refining my skills in Digital Art. I ran my first few lines of products, and sold them at Galleries, Art Fairs, and Market Stalls. I worked with many manufacturers and also consumers and took feedback to improve existing products and focused on product sales for some time.
Being extremely passionate about creativity, I committed to researching the impacts of psychological states and environmental conditions on the development of creative capacity in youth and explored the concept over 2 years’ time. This led to me understanding the value of creativity in our evolving society and taking on the project of connecting people through creativity.
I found the value that art played in bringing me happiness, and since I already volunteered with a range of local organisations, I wanted to spread that joy and bring happiness to communities that needed it most. Throughout the process of growing Colourrish, it has been committed to sustainability and helping uplift communities.
Colourrish has now evolved, and its mission did too. Today, Colourrish is working with people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities, proving that Creativity is accessible to all, and brings people together through happy moments. Colourrish has begun to work with retirement communities, children's hospice, and other community-oriented organisations to facilitate creative workshops, experiences, and collaborative projects that tell authentic stories.
At its core, Colourrish exists to shine a light in communities that face hardships, illness, major life challenges, or simply to bring people together.
Our journey has just begun, and I'm excited to see how far creativity, colour, and positivity takes us.
Feel free to follow along 😊
